Antioxidants are essential to our health and the prevention of many diseases. They work as a protection on the cells and blood vessels in the body to eliminate the intrusion of harmful substances. Free radicals are electrons known to cause significant damage to the cells, including some cancers. In fact, consuming a sufficient amount of antioxidants daily has been scientifically proven to aid in cancer and free radical prevention. Free radicals can also impair our immune system which can lead to a variety of other chronic diseases. Free radicals can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, circulation problems, cancer, and aging within the body.

Antioxidants promote good health for a variety of body parts and functions including skin, hair, bones, teeth, muscles, cartilage, tendons and many psychological functions. They are also known to aid in weight loss programs to give the desired results in a healthy and time convenient way. Most antioxidants work hand in hand with one another and are recommended to be taken in a multivitamin in hopes to obtain a variety.

Dietary supplements and multi-vitamins usually contain a significant amount of antioxidants. It is important to choose a good multi-vitamin that includes some of the basic antioxidants. Many minerals and vitamins contain antioxidants, in fact, most do. It is important to consume most vitamins through good wholesome foods, however, it can be impossible to get the required daily need.
